Work in process for Bundled Dwelling/Equipajes Inhabitados

Derived from a performance-based installation, this work comprises several assemblages that explore through action. Fragmented but connected bundles of charcoal, tables, as well as dis-located/diffused kitchen tables, are presented together with two short videos of kneading and making on these same tables.
“This is a reflective-interpretative project that seeks to elicit curiosity; where what is sensed can expand around the tangible and visible that is momentarily anchored. Conceptions of dwelling and migration are explored more so than determined, and are analyzed in how the two, and experiences therein, are engulfed in one another. The work also reveals how pieces of my personal history and culture are layered within my body as well as in spaces that host, shelter and nurture me. The installation preview was at the OCAD Experimental Media Room in February 2020. The public performance never happened because of the Toronto Covid 19 lockdown. ”
