Cement
This is an installation design. I wrapped three chairs of different prices and materials with wooden frames and cement to hide their contrasting properties. Under the wrapping of cement, they all return to their original functions and their strong support is amplified. Cement helps them amplify their functionality while showing their authenticity. The concept of this work is about the much-discussed "nei juan" in contemporary society, the constant and blind competition between people for what is considered a defined interest. However, blind competition makes people ignore their own needs, emotions, hobbies and the limits of their abilities. This competition affects every individual in the "nei juan", making them blind, giving up, passive and complaining, but at the same time unable to escape. Therefore, I chose the chair as the protagonist of the design expression. Because the chair itself has a single and pure function. There is no difference between them, some are just chairs that work in different environments. The cement wrapping erases their contrast, but highlights their functionality, which also indicates that human beings need to return to the concept of their original heart.
