Memento Mori/ For Jury Consideration
Photography
A photographic series based on the life experiences that happen between birth and death.
“Memento Mori is a Latin phrase meaning “remember you must die”. This photographic series is a reference and reminder that things will inevitably end in life in order to make way for new beginnings. Adopting similar conceptual and stylistic themes as seen in the historic 17th century Dutch vanitas paintings, I use objects as metaphors to create a dialogue and reflection around the transformations that can happen in life and death; the creation of family, the end of relationships, experiences of loss, love and the constant search for meaning. ”
