THE COMFY COLLECTIVE

Interior Design
This thesis investigates future-forward office design that prioritizes resilience, wellness, setting options, and the braiding of technology. It is a co-working space that is designed with flexibility in mind. It uses active and biophilic design principles to create adaptable spaces that allow for natural movement and wellbeing. Setting options and the braiding of technology into the design of the physical environment fosters a sense of community and connection among users. Providing options for where and how one works cultivates culture to connect people and create a sense of belonging. Flexible and reconfigurable furniture enables users to chose the posture they wish to conduct their work and the furniture they do so on. The integration of different zones and furniture provides options for where and how one works. Users have the freedom to choose their preferred posture for work, along with the type of furniture and setting that best supports their productivity. Individuals have spaces to socialize, collaborate, stay productive, and most importantly spaces that give them wellness breaks. The braiding of technology into the design of the physical environment allows users to stay connected no matter where they are. It brings in digital connection so that they are always able to have access to power and various tools. Power access, digital tools, and comfortable work stations placed throughout the space give individuals more choices when it comes to elevating their work. Biophilic design helps individuals connect with their surrounding environment, ensuring their optimal wellbeing through visual and physical connections. Increasing views of the outside environment, maximizing natural light within the space, and physically implementing greenery will aid this. Green zones create calming spaces which welcome all individuals.
