In this project, I referenced Dan McHale’s Tangent 61 and Max Hattler’s 1925 aka Hell and Divisional Articulations. Their works extensively utilize motion, camera movement, shape, repetition, unity, and contrast. They effectively synchronize the key variations of abstract graphics with the volume and rhythm of the sound. My project incorporates similar elements in a simplified manner.

“The first thing I looked for in this project was music, because I would keyframe the 3D shapes that needed to move in Blender according to the rhythm of the music, beta. To make their movement match beta. This would unify my subsequent keyframe animation. After completing the composition and keyframe animation of these geometric shapes in Blender, I would then set the keyframes of the 3D camera. I tried recording multiple versions (different angles, different movement trajectories, different camera focal lengths) and blended them together. For the choice of color, at the beginning I set the color of these lines to be close to the color of the cosmic background (especially to disguise as part of the stars in the background). With the rhythm of the music, the camera began to rotate and the lines grew up. (Giving a surprising effect) And with the help of these color lines, it is best to form the content of the eyes/pupils staring at the screen. In the subsequent content, some effects in Blender and After Effects were mixed to make the visual effect more attractive. Zooming in and out of the screen, pasting and copying images and placing them in different positions on the screen and changing colors to create strong color contrast, etc., further enhance the sense of movement of the abstract shapes and make them more in line with the rhythm of the music.”
