The Shower Block

This image is based on the story of two soldiers in the Iraq war who locked eyes when one of them came out of the shower block. The two fell in love and faced many challenges with their relationship in this environment, but eventually found a way to get married in 2014. The illustration captures the moment in time when they first met and locked eyes, marking the very start of their journey.

““Love Conquers All” explores the paradox of love blooming during war. This series of images emphasize the visual poetry that comes forward as a result of placing elements of love and war in juxtaposition. Stories of love thriving in a time of war are visually interpreted to explore the resilience of love and the need for love to conquer hate to preserve our humanity.”
