"Dejection" Negative Drawing #2 ("DETAIL")

Drawing
2024
Sennelier pastel, charcoal pencils, graphite, on Arches Black Rives 250GSM
22 x 30 inches
My perception changed with the negative inverted drawing, adjacent to the original drawing, purposefully placed upside down.

“In 2018, my whole life changed. I was forced to learn about new concepts, therapeutic practices and techniques to cope with my PTSD, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques, and became more educated on a diverse myriad of mental illnesses. I became obsessed as I fell down a dark rabbit hole of knowing uncomfortable truths, while also trying to heal from invisible wounds that life does not prepare you for.Upside down, this placement provides mystery to the viewer at first glance. Piercing eyes meet you, stare at you, and confront you. Like a light-sensitive material, this negative symbolizes the way my life was not able to go back to normal. This became my new sense of normal. ”
