This thesis work explores and conveys my deepest emotions and presents it in an artistic and creative form that speaks to my practice. I use my love of bright colours to contrast the dark subject matter I would like to investigate. I delve into my past trauma, and the complicated and often gloomy emotions I experience frequently. Ultimately dissecting my thoughts in an attempt to convey them through art. With 2020 being one of the most bizarre years many of us have experienced, the toll it takes it takes on our thoughts and minds is another topic I tie into my thesis, since it also plays a big part of the emotions I experienced and investigated. I make confessional art to be as open as possible in the artwork and share a very personal and private part of me. In this work I delve into memories and trauma as subject matter as well as current emotions I confront during the pandemic.

“Drawing influence from confessional artist Tracey Emin, master of colour Vincent Van Gogh, and lyricist Julien Baker, I have created of series of silk screen prints on paper and fabric. Every print in the series follows a similar style, which consists of a bold flat, small detail imagery, and text. All three go together but also can stand on their own. In addition to paper prints I also made a large 10x33 inch canvas wall hanging banners with each print place vertically on top of each other in a hanging scroll style. This wall hanging is embellished with beaded freeform shapes around the printed area, as well as distressing on the fabric itself. ”
