Moonbound
Digital Media
2021
Moonbound is a short platformer about a little moon rabbit trying to make its way back home to the moon. This project was inspired by the “moon rabbit” myth used in several popular pieces of media, such as Sailor Moon, The Touhou Project, and Rabbids Go Home. While the main focus of this game is the surrounding environments and visuals, it pulls elements from other 3D platformers. While many other platformers consist of high-energy movement, Moonbound is a much calmer, relaxed experience, combined with nice visuals and soothing gameplay.
“I wanted to go for a bright, slightly low-poly look for this game. The reason I wanted a low-poly look is because it can evoke feelings of nostalgia, and combined with the light colours and tone of the game, I think it will help in producing a soothing experience. I’m very inspired by platformers from the PS1-era, especially Spyro the Dragon.”
