Where is She? I Miss Her

"Where is She? I Miss Her" took the theme of reflective nostalgia that I was working with in my thesis and expanded it past the traditional canvas. Using a childhood blanket, I worked to create a piece that evokes grief, sadness, and a sense of loss. Although nothing PHYSICALLY has been lost, this work explores how I feel a sense of grief when looking back on my childhood, and seeing memories and people fade away. This piece was an experiment, marking my first painting on fabric, and first official installation. The style of installation was made to be reminiscent of hanging laundry outside, which was how I grew up doing laundry. This piece gives me closure and peace with my childhood, and accepting that time only moves forward.
