Hold my hand
Photography
Fragmental is an emotionally charged small body of work consisting of two oil paintings and one photographic print that explore my bereavement. After the sudden and unexpected death of my 21 year old sister in December 2022, I found myself disoriented and shattered. I created this body of work as an artistic exploration of my loss as a first attempt to find catharsis. Through self portraiture, gesture, negative space, and the use of deep tones, I aimed to express the emotions, vulnerability, and pain that come with the involuntary experience of grief in all of its nonlinear stages.
