I was inspired by the vibrant colours and joy of the holidays. Whenever we think of a festival we start thinking about decorations for our homes since they are an integral part of the celebration. Diwali has been my favorite festival since childhood, and I created this collection to recollect my childhood memories of India. The colours, materials and motifs used in this collection convey a sense of nostalgia. Each motif has a significant meaning and importance. Working on this project has been therapeutic in a sense, because it reminded me of all the good things I had growing up, and that is where the "joy" comes from.
“In Sanskrit, the word "Nalini" means lotus. Lotus is considered to be the most sacred flower and has great religious significance as well as many symbolic meanings. It signifies life, fertility, and wealth.”
