The PATH is an underground pathway system in Toronto’s Financial District (TFD) that is crucial for downtown Toronto’s circulation. It connects almost all major landmarks and several iconic sites within the downtown area. Despite its convenience, it lacks the interaction with some of TFD’s major public spaces on the street level, and many of these public spaces are underutilized. This project aims to create direct connections between the underground PATH system and ground level public spaces; it explores the intricate relationship between the ground level and underground level, and how public space could address this very relationship by offering alternatives and options for people who occupy the space.
