The second of three self-portraits, this painting further explores the relationship between culture and identity using the metaphor of water. It seeks to complete the narrative depicted in my earlier self- portrait, Submerged, and captures a moment of strength in the ongoing struggle to reclaim identity within the context of my cultural upbringing.
