For this project, I visualized Jordan Czamanski's "Science Punk" with abstract 3D animation style, inspired by real textures and visual music pioneers like John Whitney. I explored black-and-white rhythmic lines, camera movement, and editing techniques to match the music's layered rhythm and emotional flow.
“The background music I chose for this project is “Science Punk” by artist Jordan Czamanski. In the work process, I used Blender, After Effect, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Synthesizer V Studio Pro, and I also checked some other music websites and software to help me better feel the rhythm of the music and assist my visual development. In this work process, the first is the source of inspiration. The texture part mainly comes from Assignment 2. In Assignment 2, I explored and animated real textures. In Assignment 3, I want to try abstract animation of textures in 3D. In blender, I placed the camera much closer than reality, and used more incredible camera movements and angles to further explore the texture and combine it with music. Secondly, I really want to try something new and different that I haven't tried before. Different from my previous works, this time I used black and white lines, simple but traditional strong contrasting colors with rhythm to show a line performance. Then there are some references and learning from artists. For example, John Whitney, who pioneered computer animation technology in the 1960s, combined algorithms with music, and promoted visual music into the digital age. He emphasized the correspondence between structure and harmony, making the work more systematic and mathematically beautiful. These artists built a bridge between vision and sound, and laid the foundation for today's creation with digital tools such as Blender and After Effects. Based on their ideas, I will try to combine 3D animation with modern digital effects to explore a more contemporary visual music language.”
