Re-Set is a service facilitating the sharing of set pieces and basics between theatres and designers in Toronto and the GTA. It aims to help designers in theatre spaces and beyond navigate resource limitations and intentionally incorporate sustainable processes into the set design process. Theatre companies, groups of theatre creators, or independent designers are able to sign up for different yearly memberships depending on number of users accessing the service, starting at $60 annually for individuals. Designers are then able to borrow items for week-long periods from Re-Set's catalogue from the basics like flats (wall panels), to furniture, materials and set pieces. Re-Set will:- Minimize costs for individual productions- Allow as much creative flexibility as possible despite minimal budgets- Reduce storage needs at each theatre- Make materials more accessible for smaller productions and independent groups
“With cutbacks due to the pandemic, already small budgets in local theatre are even lower. How can we assist theatre designers in maintaining their creative flexibility and artistic vision despite minimal budgets?”
