Fish Fantasy

The Legend of the Koi fish is an old tale of a school of Koi determined to swim upstream the Yellow River. As they reach the end of the river, many turn away at the sight of a waterfall; however, one brave Koi leaps over it and, moved by its great power and will, the gods transform the little fish into a Golden Dragon. Inspired by this tale, I created a sample of what will be a children's storybook, telling the story of a young girl's fish plushie racing against a magical school of Koi that enter their bedroom at night.

“One night, a school of magical, golden Koi swim through Stella's room. Her plushie, Pants, longs to join them, and because his wish is so great, he transforms into a big fish, joining the rest and taking Stella along with him! Now racing the other fish, who will be the first to reach the moon and appease the gods?”
