I render a moment of observation at night, where a rabbit moves through my front yard as if it belongs more to hiding than being seen. It camouflages into the grass with an ease that feels practiced—inherited; it dissolves into its surroundings while remaining just visible enough to be noticed. There is a shared fear in this encounter—of being perceived without knowing, of occupying space that is not entirely safe. The rabbit and I exist within the same field of visibility, where looking becomes uncertain and proximity does not guarantee understanding. What emerges is a strain between refuge and exposure, where presence is felt as something fleeting, always at risk of being seen.
