Moon Fish is inspired by the many mangrove roots I used to swim through as a child. The name is based on what I used to call the jellyfish I saw around those areas. The deep sage greens, viridian, and dark browns mimic the colours of how I remember mangrove roots. Moulding clay is roughly built up around the edges of the canvas in swooping formidable shapes. I specifically painted Moon Fish with no reference image as to represent the foggy lens of a cherished childhood memory.

“This body of work is a combination of a handful of the pieces I created during my time at OCAD, and an exploration of how my practice has evolved throughout that duration of time.”
