“The Unreliable Narrator delves into a deeply personal, multi-layered narrative revolving around themes of remembrance, love, hurt, joy, and pain. Through a fusion of animation, archival footage, sound design, and digital video, my film explores the fragmented nature of memory reconstruction from a subjective viewpoint. Central to this exploration is the interplay between certainty and uncertainty, representing the clash between the absolute knowledge of lived experiences and the unpredictable nature of memory retrieval. I empower myself to curate which memories to reveal, document, or hold back, transforming a personal reality into a tangible dream. I uncover the transformative potential of cinematic memory recall, where scenes blend into a surreal dreamscape merging old archives and photographs. This dreamlike tension blurs the boundaries between reality and the cinematic realm, offering a fresh perspective on self-discovery and a physical embodiment of a lived reality.”
