Switch into Another World

A console depicting two figures in a world of fantasy created with watercolour painted hand-cut layers on top of each other inspired by the concept of layers, game design, world-building and paper theatre. This multimedia piece summarizes my joy in playing games, building a world setting and its characters within it while playing around with layers that we often use in digital works and painting.

“A play on words with the switch console, this piece allows the audience to view into the "screen" peering into another world following the two characters on their adventure utilizing paintings done in watercolour, gouache, and pencil crayons to then got me thinking about the concept of layering in painting and recreating it physically. As a result, this lead to this work which I call the paper-layering technique.”
