“Endurance is a large-scale double self-portrait (charcoal and chalk pastel on unprimed canvas, 48” x 72”) exploring personal experience through the lens of spiritual unrest and "pendulation." Referencing the myth of Atlas, the coloured figure in the foreground symbolizes the burden and ecstasy of soul-awareness—an experience shaped by Jain philosophy and cosmic consciousness. The monochrome figure behind evokes the weight of this realization, while drapery, nets, and geometric forms conjure energy, light, and the interconnected cosmic web. This work is both personal and universal, capturing the enduring tension between transcendence and entrapment in the spiritual journey.”
