Discovery, Rediscovery

“Part of a body of work utilizing laser cut plexiglass "Discover, Rediscovery" seeks to explore an ongoing process of finding oneself. A mirrored composition of figures all in outward movement, reaching out and seeking to expand and find meaning. The figures all influence each other and overlap with translucent colour, expanding the narrative to the influence of community and space in relation to shared experience and the impact had by the perception of others on ones identity. Aspects of outward projection can be influenced by those we surround ourselves with. We alter our states of being to conform and fit into communities. Having experiences of living within a community where expression was directly related to my own personal safety, and migrating to a place where I am free to express myself I have profound experience in relation to the ties between community and self expression. This work seeks to encapsulate that experience.”
