01- For Jurying Consideration

My large, multi-disciplinary, abstract paintings of Canadian and Guyanese landscapes are embedded with political and metaphysical explorations of identity, ancestral history, and temporality. Inspired by my photography, they were created with both Western art tools and cross-disciplinary mark-making materials, such as ground turmeric, charcoal and chalk pastel sticks - all reflecting hybrid cultural identity and connecting the viewer to the natural environment's immediate need of stewardship.
