01 For Jurying Consideration - Shinae's Migration Series

I’m interested in the investigation of migration - to wit, my family’s history with its sensations of displacement and tragedy. In the migration series, I have painted Asian migrants and migrant families: They’re leaving home and headed somewhere new and unknown. I wanted to capture their anxious anticipation, their unknown future. This is an experience I understand - I am a child of immigrant Korean parents.
