Through the reiterations of the digital, material, and audio Jessica’s work unfolds a story in fragments and interludes telling her lineage, transitions, and rebirth. We so often our personal histories as linear. In the experience of being the first child of her family line to be born outside of China her work wants to say there is so much more than a one directional story. Jessica’s influences are her experiences and that of those around her. She believes her narrative wouldn’t exist without her living it with others. Her work encourages viewers to listen, yield, and interact to the telling of a human being’s story.
