“Dust of Buzhou is a series of narrative illustrations set in a war-torn Eastern land, where humans uncover the decayed corpses of their Mother Goddesses, Tian-ren. These beings, once worshipped as the bringers of music and writing, are now overtaken by fungi, releasing hallucinogenic spores. The young queen, eager for power, has corrupted faith to serve her own ambitions. Alvi, a member of the queen’s secret police, is caught in the web of political intrigue, yet secretly plots to seize the chaos as an chance to escape oppression. This project delves into how the thirst for power warps faith and intertwines with the unforeseen consequences of attempting to control the divine.”
