“Space has always been the spiritual dimension of architecture. It is not the physical statement of the structure so much as what it contains that moves us. — Arthur Erickson”

Hi, my name is Xinyang Du. I am a graduating student in Interior Design at OCAD University, currently transitioning into the field of architecture. Throughout my undergraduate journey, I have explored how space can foster emotional connection, cultural identity, and environmental resilience. From residential projects to speculative urban designs addressing climate extremes, I have worked across various scales with a strong emphasis on storytelling and user experience. My design philosophy draws from both tradition and innovation—whether by reinterpreting classical Chinese ink painting in urban interventions or by embracing new ideas rooted in sustainability and adaptive reuse. These experiences, along with internships and international competitions, have shaped a rigorous yet flexible design process. I believe that architecture is more than structure; it is a medium for dialogue, empathy, and collective imagination. I look forward to creating spaces that respond meaningfully to both people and place.
