“I have always been drawn to the interaction between human and place.In my final year at OCAD U, I created environmental portraits addressing the question: How does the experience of a location influence ones identity?”
Malik is a Toronto-based photographer and multidisciplinary artist. His work includes portrait photography, videography, and illustration. Following his graduation, he was awarded a membership to Gallery 44 centre for contemporary photography, where he is currently creating alternative photo-based artwork. His images have been published in magazines such as PhotoED, Among Worlds, and LoveIsMoving.Having grown up in France, Senegal, and Canada, Malik carries with him a complex multi-cultural identity. His work reflects on themes of belonging, identity, and faith. Today, Malik explores the intersection of environment and identity within portraiture.
