“The Witch’s Guide to Identity and Illusion (2022) is an animated narrative film retelling the classic Greek mythological story of Hades and Persephone. As the goddess reflects on the circumstances surrounding her capture, looking back on the events from a different perspective. The film is about learning to accept yourself and finding your own identity in a challenging world. ”
Sarah Lessard is a digital artist and animator from Adawe/Ottawa currently residing in Tkaronto/Toronto. They are graduating with a BFA in Drawing and Painting: Digital Painting & Expanded Animation from OCAD University. Their work primarily focuses on activism surrounding climate change, disability, and the LGBTQ+ community. As a plus-size, queer, non-binary person navigating the world, their work uses both personal and mythological stories to convey their message. They work to represent real bodies and stories centring around marginalized queer identities.
