“My project the Eclipses is an illustration project based on personal expression, which tells a complete story in the form of eight sequential illustrations. I hope to use it for a non-commercial purpose, so that the audience can understand my life journey of growing up as a member from the non-binary community. The theme and concept of my project is a life journey of a non-binary gender character (especially the gender fluid), which is expressed in the form of science fiction stories, telling how the protagonist explores themselves, from unconscious to conscious, questions their body and mind, faces and overcomes difficulties, and understands the meaning of sexual minorities in their own way. This is a story of growing up in society and eventually finding self-identity and reconciliation with oneself. Where I grew up, sexual minorities and non-binary communities are not a widely recognized and discussed topic in my culture, and I hope to show my understanding and identification of sexual minorities from an Asian perspective through my visual narration. The protagonist is presented to the audience as a purple-skinned alien, with purple representing a sense of self-identity between the traditional binary gender (expressed in blue and red/pink), while the alien is a sense of alienation that is out of place in the mainstream surrounding environment and people's gender stereotypes.”
