“The passing of my aunt marked a profound moment of personal loss in my life. It’s been almost seven years, and I still struggle to come to terms with fully processing my grief. In the months after her passing, I found myself disconnected from expressing my grief and ultimately feeling I needed to honor her life in a meaningful way. Family Chain is a body of work that is a personal journey demonstrating unresolved grief, memory, and honoring of my aunt's life through portraiture. Transforming physical and digital photographs into paintings has reconnected me with my aunt's daily presence. Exploring the utilization of colours and religious imagery has allowed me to reflect upon the personal, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of mourning. ”
