aka. Sh3mona, Drawing and Painting
“My sculptural works reimagine the humble Jewish folk art of papercutting. I am seeking to preserve this vanishing tradition using contemporary materials— evoking imagery from my own Jewish upbringing and research of related historical texts, songs and poems. My digital drawings are laser-cut onto acrylic sheets and constructed into freestanding sculptures, bridging our rich cultural past with emerging futures.”

I am a multi-disciplinary artist with my roots in Drawing and Painting. My diverse practice includes mediums such as sculpture, sound art and digital processes. I have professional experience in mural painting, but have since expanded that focus toward large scale public art and sculpture. My work focuses on collective wellbeing and seeks to benefit the communities for which it is created and situated within. In tandem with my thesis, I am installing seven of these sculptural works at the Baycrest home for Geriatric Care. The exhibition will be opening in June and running for 6 months.
