“Amensalism- The interaction of 2 species where one species has a great negative impact on the other and the affected species has no impact on the first. Like elephants walking on grass, they feel nothing from the action they take but for the insects and small creatures at ground level it is devastating. What if the species and creatures being destroyed evolved with the very tools being used to devastate them? By highlighting some of our most threatened animals and habitats and the human impacts destroying them, this series shows a different reality of if these creatures could have a defense against these threats of mankind. Showing how extreme and unrealistic these defenses are is a grave reminder of how they have nothing to defend themselves with against our actions and it is only in our hands to tread lightly in their worlds. ”
Natalie Cain is Toronto born and raised who at a young age, was obsessed with comics, graphic novels and illustration. With a heavily linework focused style, she draws inspiration from the novels she read as a kid with their solid energetic outlines and unique interpretations of real things. She likes to find inspiration from the outdoors and "real life" then adding her own flare to it so you can get a glimpse of how she translates these seemingly ordinary things through her linework. An aspiring tattoo artist, she hopes to grow her understanding of lines and the simple things into more complex beautiful images for others to enjoy and share.
