Images of Christina preparing food
“My name is Christina Barrot and I'm a international student from Singapore. Since moving to Toronto, I've been navigating what it means to live on my own away from my home country and family. In addition, navigating through the new cultures, norms and spaces here. Of these experiences, the ones I love to share is my relationship to food, because food for me is powerful symbol of nourishment for the body, and not necessarily my own. Feeding and cooking has not only taught me new recipes or skills, but practicing daily and weekly routines of nourishment teach me ways of caring for my own body, while understanding my mother's. I believe that food plays an important role in bringing people, ideas and emotions together in commune.”
