The Weeping Willow

This painting depicts the scene surrounding a playground I used to go to as a child, the surrounding landscape is familiar sight and has remained largely unchanged as I grew up passing by it and playing near it for practically half of my life. The composition is made up of a large willow towering next to the flowing ravine, camouflaged by overgrown bushes, reeds and grass, and rows of trees beyond, at the end of summer right before sunset. This particular willow is so large that when standing beneath its canopy of leaves you are transported away by the soft sways of its mesmerizing branches, shielded from the outside world. I convey this relaxed, peaceful, dreamy sensation of this specific tree within the painting through soft delicate brushstrokes.
