Moon Landing

Mixed Media
2024
Brass, tar, acrylic paint
33.5 inches x 33.5 inches
'Moon Landing' is a multimedia painting created using upcycled brass metal discs, painted with acrylic to depict the moon against the backdrop of a cosmic expanse. A subtle inclusion of upcycled tar, resembling a moon crater, symbolizes our reliance on fossil fuels extending into space exploration. This juxtaposition invites contemplation on the interconnectedness between human endeavors in space and their environmental impact on Earth, prompting reflection on the delicate balance between progress and sustainability in our quest for exploration.

“The moon, with its timeless allure and enigmatic presence in our collective consciousness, symbolizes both the dreams of exploration and the fragility of our natural environment. Just as our journey to the stars is fueled by the resources extracted from our planet, so too are we confronted with the ecological repercussions of our ambitions. Ponder the interconnectedness of human exploration, environmental stewardship, and the vastness of the cosmos.”
