A contemporary surrealist landscape

“I wanted to use this piece to explore the complexities of the mind in a more vulnerable state. I wanted to create an extended multidimensional space as a visual representation of repetitive thoughts/memories. Additional visual imagery is meant to represent the busy/overwhelming psyches that tread the day to day. I used images of cities/sea to best represent these feelings. The crashing waves extend beyond the initial image and through the space by using textured brushes that indicate the overflow and the interpretation of intrusive thoughts. Additional textures and brush work were added to keep the piece from having a clean and uniformed look as the mind can be a messy and overly complex place.”
