Holy Matrimony

Holy Matrimony shows two large swans with wings extended surrounded by traditional wedding imagery. With their feet being tied together, and an ethereal glow that seems to bless the ceremony.

“Holy Matrimony depicts the idealized version of heteronormative monogamous marriage, and the portrayal of this step as vital for a woman’s happiness. Marriage, as it exists today, is rooted in a history of patriarch, colonialism and ownership, yet the tradition of a monogamous marriage is seen as the natural and idealized progression for any relationship. ”
