A wellness center in Bukit Timah, Singapore, with an emphasis on biophilic design and mental health well-being. The center aims to offer a serene and inviting environment for individuals of all ages and backgrounds, providing spaces that promote relaxation, social interaction, and personal growth. The design integrates natural materials such as wood, glass, and marble, alongside lush greenery, creating a harmonious connection with nature. The project aims to address the growing need for mental health support in a bustling urban environment, offering an inclusive and supportive space for individuals to unwind, recharge, and connect with others in a stress-free setting.
“In response to Singapore’s tendency to undervalue mental health and well-being, this thesis proposes the adaptive reuse of the Chun Tin Road public carpark into a biophilic 3-storey community center. Architecture is not merely about utility or aesthetics but has the potential to enhance human experiences by promoting mental health, fostering social cohesion, and encouraging inclusivity. Through the integration of natural elements, soothing colors, and dynamic lighting, the design creates environments that reduce stress, lower suicide risk, and build meaningful connections. This transformation reimagines a neglected urban site as a vibrant hub for well-being and community engagement, demonstrating how architecture can address societal challenges and redefine the purpose of underutilized spaces.”
