Savior, Please

Savior, Please is a dyptich that features a girl in a blue dress swimming upwards in one panel, and a mermaid figure in the other. The girl is held back by a red ribbon that wraps around her body, and seemingly keeps her on a short leash. The mermaid is free and unrestricted.

“Savior, Please delves into escapism, a primary theme of my thesis. The ribbon represents restraint, and the lack of control that the girl has own her own body. The girl continues to swim upwards, attempting to escape her situation and enter further into her fantasy world. The mermaid represents the freedom and strength that the girl is trying to emulate. ”
