Transitional Work/Live for recent OCAD University graduates.
“What better way to pay tribute to OCAD than to put what I have learnt back into it. This project is my personal wish and tribute to all of us graduates. This thesis explores the transition of OCAD University graduates into professional life by proposing a dynamic, multifunctional live/word space. It integrates living, working, and retailing/exhibiting, fostering a collaborative environment for innovation. Shared studios, co-working spaces, and maker labs encourage skill-sharing and experimentation, easing the transition from academia to professional practice. Retail and exhibition areas allow graduates to showcase work, connect with clients, and generate income, supporting their financial transition. What is this Typology? This project proposes a new typology. It can be best understood as a "Graduate Transition Hub" specifically designed for emerging creative professionals. This model seamlessly blends residential living with co-working spaces, maker labs, and exhibition/retail spaces. It's more than just housing or a co-living space; it's a dynamic ecosystem that supports the multifaceted needs of recent art and design graduates. By integrating professional development resources and entrepreneurial opportunities within the residential context, this typology fosters a smooth transition into the creative industry while nurturing a vibrant community of practice.”
Celebrate the work of OCAD U’s class of 2024/2025!
