This zine is a documentation of my paternal grandmother's stories, inspired by brilliant Indigenous artists and teachers. I had the pleasure of being taught by Susan Blight, a brilliant Anishinaabe, Couchiching First Nation interdisciplinary artist, instructing at OCAD. This work is a response to an assignment exploring my resonance with intergenerational connection and presence, a theme in our Sovereign Screen class. The process, spending time with my grandmother, is part of the work. I hand-wove a textile for the cover of the zine, digitally manipulated photos and hand-bound the pages together. This physical medium held a story my grandmother told me about her childhood in the Philippines during Japanese occupation. After the zine was complete I further explored this theme by creating another mixed media piece featuring my maternal great grandmother.Design + Copy Book BindingMixed Media Textile Fabrication
