Bunso: Thesis Film

The film follows a young astronaut wishing to explore a new planet along with her two older sisters (in the form of robot companions) that incessantly urge her to go home.

“Bunso is a narrative, single-channel animation about the importance of a childs’ individual freedom, situating itself within a cultural standpoint of Filipino familial dynamics through the use of language and traditions. The word “bunso” means “youngest child” or “youngest in the family” in Tagalog. Widely used as a way to address the youngest child/sibling, it is sometimes used in a teasing manner, and can alternatively imply “most spoiled” or “the baby of the family.””
