I Miss Kissing You Upside Down
Installation
2024
I Miss Kissing You Upside Down or دگرگونی is a soft sculpture made of used bedsheets and filled with pillow filling. It is suspended from the ceiling over another soft sculpture called The Only Time I Feel Inside My Body Is When It Is Next To Yours. There is a blue cloud, a pink sphere, and a soft moon sitting on a Persian rug next to them. The figures are stretched looking like something pulled their limbs. The suspended figure has its guts and esophagus hanging from its body.
“Degargooni (دگرگونی), or 'I miss kissing you upside down,' explores the transformation of both body and soul during and after a romantic relationship. In Persian literature, the term 'degargooni' carries a significant weight, insinuating change through loss and destruction. The piece explores a soft souled and bodied person going through a relationship and a breakup. Being soft like dough, like water. You can be kneaded. You can be poured into life and life pours into you. ”
