Social isolation is a growing issue in today’s world as social media often fails to foster meaningful in-person connections. The pandemic emphasized the need for free, inclusive spaces where people from all diverse backgrounds can come together and engage in real connection. My project aims to address this by repurposing an existing building, rather than demolishing it .It is to promote sustainability and preserve the natural beauty of the site. Because there is a powerline running through the site, the space is limited for upward expansion. Instead, I plan to build outward and downward, integrating the structure within the surrounding landscape. This design approach maintains greenspace while creating a low-rise, accessible recreational center that encourages interaction across generations. By serving as a link between youth and older community members, the center supports social connection, environmental responsibility, and healthier lifestyles for future generations.
