This screen print is a reminder of the ongoing war in Ukraine. In 2014, Russia started a war in Ukraine, leading to the illegal annexation of Ukrainian territory. The war escalated significantly in 2022 when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. About 20% of Ukraine is under Russian occupation, with 8 million internally displaced people and more than 8 million people fleeing the country. As news about the war disappears from people's social media feeds and television screens, this work aims to remind people that the war is not over and to stand for a free and sovereign Ukraine. The screen print depicts the iconic Ukrainian salt packaging from Artemsil, a salt mine in the eastern Ukrainian city of Soledar. The salt package overlaps with the red map depicting part of the Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory. The map shows the cities of Bakhmut and Soledar, both severely destroyed during the ongoing war. The blurry text on the left represents the disappearing news and people's interest in the war.

“The print is for sale at the GradEx ILLUxGRPH Shop — Room 600 at 100 McCaul Street.”
