Water Transportation Station Prototypes Design ProjectPROBLEM: Based on the research and self-experience, the major problem that Toronto Waterfront Area faced is the inconsecutive of the lake shoreline which makes people feel inconvenienced and uncomfortable. At the same time, they walk alongside the shoreline. And people prefer to stay active in one area instead of walking from west to east.IDEA: DynamicHYPOTHESIS: Water transportation station prototypes can be replicated, which float on the water can activate the waterfront area of Toronto, The way of connecting different areas cannot only solve the problem of inconvenience and unconsecutive of people’s walk from east to west but bring people closer to the Lake Ontario and strengthen the relationship between the two.SITES: Three sites are chosen in Great Toronto Area and three appropriate water transportation station prototypes are designed in each location depending on different circumstances. Three sites are located in Jack Layton Ferry Terminal (Bay St. & Queens Quay W), Billy Bishop Airport (Ireland Park, Eireann Quay & Queens Quay W), and Palace Pier (Palace Pier CT & Lake Shore Blvd W). The designs will show how the water bus operating strategy works effectively to figure out the present problem.
