Assignment Planner
Industrial Design
2024
The assignment planner was made for students struggling with ADHD and time management by breaking down big assignments and projects into more digestible and manageable assignments. This canvas add-on leans onto reward-based feedback loops for long-term planning, motivating the student to continue with their assignment. Whether they are moving at the right speed or finding challenges along the way, the canvas panda will be with them every step of the way. This new canvas feature will generate predetermined steps for the student to follow. This not only gives a more structured approach to completing work but provides a clear roadmap to complete assignments from start to finish in ways they might not used to doing. The task breakdowns empower users to access essential materials, monitor their progress, and easily manage complex assignments. I also considered accessibility within the animations as I provide the ability to stop moving content and animations to make it accessible for people with sensitivity to movement. Using a user-centric approach guided by input from students with ADHD, this project fosters a tool that truly meets their needs, empowering them to navigate academic responsibilities and achieve their full potential confidently.
“"Through a nurturing environment and comprehensive reward system, we foster motivation and resilience. Encouraging students to thrive academically at their own pace."Main IdeaAn assignment planner to help students who struggle with ADHD, anxiety, and procrastination at OCAD to complete larger assignments in a more manageable way with the help of a reward-based feedback loop. Why is this project important? With Gen Z reporting high-stress levels, exacerbated by the pandemic, students face increasing academic pressures. ADHD diagnoses have risen by 16%, yet over 50% remain undiagnosed. An assignment planner is crucial for managing overwhelming academic obligations, particularly for students with ADHD and time management. What impact will this have? What will it offer? This will offer students a structured approach to breaking down assignments by dividing tasks into smaller sections and implementing a reward system. We aim to reduce stress, improve productivity, and promote a sense of accomplishment and well-being among university students.”
