Project Description:Toronto faces a major food waste problem, with Kensington Market alone wasting over 114 tonnes daily.Jotno is Toronto’s first Bengali fusion café built entirely on upcycled ingredients — not reused, but reborn. Located in Kensington Market, Jotno partners with nearby restaurants and grocery stores to rescue surplus food and transform it into fresh bakery creations. To make this system seamless, Jotno introduces two campaigns: Hiring Food, which integrates an easy pickup system into the existing Too Good To Go app for businesses, and RePlate-It, a public campaign educating 18–28-year-olds on food waste culture through posters, packaging stickers, and transit ads. QR codes drive audiences to a playful website where they can learn to upcycle at home. Jotno doesn’t just serve food — it saves it, aiming to rescue over 45 tonnes of food per year and create a community that cares for food, people, and the planet.
